Good News stories: RLS Beneficiaries * Names of beneficiaries are disguised to ensure anonymity

KD, female  Awarded £1,310 course fees, equipment and travel expenses, KD first came to Royal London Society in 2008 when RLS helped her raise the necessary funding to gain a qualification in personal fitness, with a view to a career as a support worker.  When she was qualified, RLS Chief Executive secured a work placement at YMCA, the travel expenses for which RLS funded.  KD credits RLS with her extraordinary success winning the job of Personal Assistant to the Chief Executive of a national charity. “Thank you so much, it was starting to feel that I had worked so very hard only to come up against yet another hurdle; but thanks to your organisation, I am once again leaping over that barrier…I would like to acknowledge that the council members have kindly funded me previously and without this I would definitely not be in the position I am in now with gaining my work placement”

MG, male from London  Awarded £395 towards LGV course fees. MG applied to RLS for support to fund LGV driving lessons on the understanding that he was to move prison shortly.  When this move was postponed, MG withdrew his application believing this change made his application void.  RLS negotiated with the prison to ensure that the training could go ahead.“The RLS is a fantastic organisation and I am so grateful for the help you have given me...you have been so kind and understanding towards my plight, encouraging me when I felt like giving up… extending your careful deliberations and then awarding me a grant are magnificent gestures that help me to want to succeed honestly and without crime… it warmed my heart knowing that there are such generous caring people ready and willing to help me re-build my life…you have given me a little more belief in myself and my future and I am so grateful for that…you have made me feel that I will be given opportunities and that I just need to keep trying and not give up … thank you” More
