Through its EaST project the Society always seeks to ensure that there is a commitment from all parties involved in creating employment opportunities for ex-offenders. This ethos seeks to create a common interest among HM Prison Service, the ex-offenders, prospective employers, training providers, charitable trusts and the Society. This ensures that each of them makes some commitment to the rehabilitation process.
In some cases this takes the form of a personal financial commitment by the offender, but each person is given individual consideration. The Society has found that by creating this common interest the chances of a positive outcome are increased.
As well as working with HM Prison Service, the Society maintains close contact with the Ministry of Justice incorporating the National Offenders’ Management Service (NOMS). All individual applications to the Society (Click Download or pic) are endorsed by a prison officer, a probation officer, a trade instructor, the education department or other agencies concerned to ensure that those selected confirm their commitment to succeed.
